Etna Green is a piano rock band originating from Walkerton, Indiana. They began playing locally as a band called This Time Tomorrow in November of 2006. By the following June, they had a solid show and were confident in what they were becoming. By late June This Time Tomorrow was no more—the band picked up Matty K, the current bass player, and formed Etna Green, the band you know today.
With a mix of hard hitting rock guitar, intricate piano, and thoughtful lyrics, Etna Green has, for the past two years, continued to grow and evolve their identity by experimenting with a wide range of song styles and poignant themes. EG has shared the stage with a variety of bands: Skillet, Jonezetta, Slingshot 57, as well as political speakers: mayors, congressmen, and the occasional presidential candidate. They’ve played stadiums, packed theaters, coffee houses, even birthday and graduation parties.
In August 2008, Etna Green set out to record their first full length album. There were several setbacks throughout the year, but the band was determined to get their music out. Heading to Joplin, MO, EG planned a four day recording marathon with Josh Walker of Transient Media Group. The group recorded forty-four hours that weekend, leaving the editing and mixing to Josh Walker. After two months of mixing, mastering, and conference calls Etna Green released their first full-lenght album, The Deeper the Roots the Higher the Reach. The CD release show was a huge hit, with three times the people for legal occupancy crammed together in a coffee house accompanied by other great local and touring bands. The show was a sellout and the group realized then that they want to take this as far as they can.
EG has just recently come off of their summer tour. Etna Green will play for anyone willing to listen to us; with that mindset, they plan on nothing short of an adventure. Keep checking in on the guys to see what they're up to.
